Grave Cleaning Supplies

If you’re familiar with grave cleaning (or have checked out the Grave Cleaning Resources that I’ve shared), then you know that you can’t just grab any old bottle of household cleaner, fill up a bucket of water, run to your local cemetery, and start scrubbing random gravesites.

You need to get yourself setup with a variety of grave cleaning supplies (depending on what tasks you’re willing to do) before you venture out and bring some life back to weathered or aged monuments.

SUN JOE ®️ HJ605CC 2-IN-1 GRASS SHEAR HEDGER WITH EXTENSION POLE

Here’s that “magic tool” that’s used for edging the landscape around graves & memorials – you probably saw it in action in a variety of videos from @sixfeetabovethegrave on TikTok.

If you would like to remove the overgrown grass, weeds, and even the overbearing dirt away from the gravesites that you care for in a fast, convenient way – you’ll definitely need to add this tool to your grave cleaning supplies!

D/2 BIOLOGICAL SOLUTION

D/2 Biological Solution is a biodegradable, easy to use liquid that removes stains caused by mold, algae, mildew, lichens and air pollutants. D/2 is effective on marble, granite, limestone, brownstone, travertine, masonry, terra cotta, concrete, stucco, wood, and other surfaces including monuments, sculpture and headstones.

WET & FORGET

Wet & Forget is a great alternative to D/2 Biological Solution, and it’s mentioned by many reputable sources as a product option to consider using when cleaning graves.

(If you haven’t already, check out my blog post about “How To Safely Clean Graves”)

Wet & Forget is very “pocket book friendly”, and you can find it in practically any major store that carries outdoor cleaning products.

SOFT UTILITY SCRUB BRUSH

Every grave cleaner needs to have a nice, large, and soft bristled scrub brush in their supply bag.
With this particular brush, it’s hard to miss any spots!

WATER MISTER & SPRAYER

Another grave cleaning “must have”, this 1.5 liter pressurized pump water mister and sprayer makes applying cleaner or rinsing debris and suds away so convenient (and enjoyable) to do!

ORVUS WA PASTE

Orvus WA Paste is a great mild detergent for grave cleaning! It is safe for cleaning most anything – including memorials.

It does work very well on stone to remove general dirt and soiling. However, keep these two things in mind :
• it will not safely kill or remove biological growth like D/2 Biological Solutions
• a very little amount goes a long way – so, one container can last for quite some time

No harm will come from using a soft bristle brush, Orvus WA Paste, and a lot of water to rinse well!

BOWLING ALLEY WAX

I enjoy cleaning graves in general, but one of my favorite styles of memorials to tidy up are the flat (typically bronze) headstones.

This bowling alley wax is an awesome item to have in your grave cleaning supplies if you want to give a bronze memorial a nice shiny finished look!

A little bit of it goes a long way, so you’re sure to stay stocked with this stuff for quite some time.
You just grab a designated paint brush, apply to the flat marker, and enjoy the beauty it tends to enhance!

CEMETERY SUNBRELLA

This pagoda styled umbrella is perfect for helping you keep shaded from the sun during your walks through the cemetery, and it’s great for keeping you dry when you’re out and about in the graveyard on a mild dreary, wet day.

Whether you want to call it a parasol, umbrella, sunbrella, etc. – it’s just plain stylish and enjoyable to use!
